About

Hi, I’m Flo.

4OurPets started the way most useful things in my life have started — out of frustration. Fifteen years ago I brought home a senior beagle named Murphy from a shelter where he had been returned twice, and I quickly discovered that most of the pet advice on the internet was either obvious, contradictory, or quietly trying to sell me something. I started keeping notes for myself: what the vet actually said, what the trainer actually meant, which $40 gadget was a waste of money and which $4 thing changed everything.

Those notes turned into this site.

What you’ll find here

4OurPets is a small, independent publication about living well with animals. We cover four main areas:

  • Pet Care — feeding, grooming, and the everyday habits that keep dogs, cats, and other companions thriving.
  • Pet Training — humane, practical training that works in the real world, not just in a quiet living room with a clicker.
  • Animal Health — symptoms to watch for, vet visits, nutrition, and what to do at 2 a.m. when something seems off.
  • Pets & Home Lifestyle — pet-friendly home tips, gear we actually use, and news from the pet world.

What you won’t find here

  • Articles written by AI to game search engines.
  • “Top 10” lists of products nobody on staff has ever touched.
  • Veterinary advice — for that, please see your vet. We can help you ask better questions, but we cannot replace a hands-on exam.
  • Affiliate links disguised as recommendations. When something here is an affiliate link, it will be clearly labeled.

Who writes it

Right now, mostly me. I share my home with three rescue dogs, one extremely opinionated tabby cat, and an ever-growing stack of dog-eared books on canine nutrition and behavior. I read research papers for fun and I have made every pet-owner mistake at least once, which is why I’m in a position to warn you about them.

If you have a question, a story, or a correction, I would love to hear from you. Reach me through the Contacts page.

Thanks for reading. Give your animals an extra ear-scratch from me.
